What to expect from your session...

some advice and tips to prepare your mind before a tattoo

A tattoo session can last up to 10 hours, depending on the skin, body and how long you are able to sit for. Everybody is different and you should not feel pressured into sitting for longer than your body can withstand.

Preparing for your appointment will give the best chance of comfort and a successful session. It is important to have a good night’s sleep the night before and have a large breakfast in the morning of the appointment. This prepares your body and keeps your blood sugar levels up.

A day of tattooing is a collaborative experience between both client and artist through which you create a piece of art that will last a lifetime. Sharing ideas is part of the process of creating a tattoo and the artist is there to help guide the process and help you to express yourself through concepts.

By fully describing your ideas, the artist will be able to interpret them in a visual form so please don’t worry if you don’t have illustrative experience; and feel comfortable in the knowledge that the artist will find the right way to understand the meaning in what you want. Exploring and communicating will bring the best results.

A tattoo is a work of art and needs to be treated as such. Each artist interprets the meaning in a way that creates the best outcome for the piece depending on their expertise. All elements of creating a tattoo; from details of composition, to how the ink goes into the skin, to how the completed image will look and what is possible on the body. This is where the wealth of experience that the artist brings is integral to the process. The aim is to create something both client and artist can be proud of.

The healing process is the final element of the tattoo process and essential in ensuring the preservation of the tattoo and the enjoyment for years to come. If a tattoo is beautifully crafted but not looked after, the results will fall short of the finished piece,

  • Prepare the aftercare recommended by the artist before the sessions.

  • Avoid physical exertion for at least 3 days after the session.

  • Staying at home in a clean environment for the first 48hours after will help close the skin pores and keep the tattoo in the best condition after the session.
